WHO CAN APPLY FOR OBTAINING AN ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP IN USA?
Our clients are athletes:
- High school students who after high school want to enter the University in the United States,
- Students of any university who wish to transfer to the university in the United States,
- With a completed high school degree who want to start or continue a terminated study.
The necessary qualities that a candidate must have to have a realistic chance of getting an athletic scholarship: 1. AGE To compete in the NCAA Division I each candidate must be between 18 and 26 years of age, as stipulated in the regulations of the competition. In other NCAA divisions and NAIA organization currently there is no limit. The ideal option is to immediately following the high school completion to continue ones education in the U.S., because that is the time with the biggest possibility of getting a scholarship. Every coach would rather take a player who they can count on for 4 years on the team. |
2. ACADEMIC PREREQUISITES
- Each candidate must possess a diploma on completion of secondary school "Certificate of matriculation" or be on the way to get it in the near future (to attend the third or fourth year of high school),
- Taken an entrance exam for American universities - SAT - for the candidates who were never enrolled in a higher education institution,
- Taken a test of English proficiency - TOEFL - for candidates who are already enrolled at a university or college and wish to transfer. Both tests are academic which examine knowledge of English and mathematics, and every university has its own entrance requirements, i.e. the minimum number of points from these tests for admission)
- Passing grades from secondary school are sufficient for admission to the university, but better scores mean a greater ability to obtain (besides an athletic) an academic scholarships. Often these two scholarships in combination can cover the majority or all of the costs at American universities.
3. ATHLETIC PREREQUISITES
At the American universities, there are 29 sports for which it is possible to get a scholarship. This list changes slightly over the years, but generally these are the following sports: Soccer (European football), basketball, volleyball, water polo, track and field, tennis, skiing, ice hockey, field hockey, swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, rowing, baseball, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, rifle, diving, wrestling , bow and arrow, bowling and equestrian. When asked what it means to be a good athlete for competition in the student leagues of American universities one can struggle to provide an easy and simple answer. One can only do so on their own experience, as this makes it possible to compare the quality of candidates with the required level of play in the NCAA, NAIA or NJCAA leagues. |
In many sports it is difficult to determine the performance level and this is the greatest difficulty for American coaches when recruiting athletes from other countries. It is understandable that the coach from any U.S. university may have difficulties to determine the quality of European lower division of soccer, or any other sport for that sake. Thus the importance of our program is higher, because it gives coaches the opportunity to compare candidates and obtain all necessary information on which to base their decision on awarding scholarships. For all sports, the difference between best and average teams or individuals is quite significant. Top candidates will accordingly lead the strongest teams, while the average candidates will be strong enough to improve the quality of the average team in American college leagues. There is no need to fear that the candidate does not meet the competitive level of American universities, as there are many levels of competition. The real challenge is how to find the proper level for each individual, whose efforts will raise the quality of the team, as high scholarships are assigned mostly to those individuals. And that is our task.
The popularity of a sport means that there is a large number of scholarships that are waiting for their owners. Indeed there are several top teams in which today's NBA and NHL stars once played, but there are a lot of average teams in which our candidates can find their place and scholarships. For some other sports story is completely the opposite - a small number of universities has, for example water polo team, but the quality of games is considerably lower and the chances of our candidates are once again high. It is important to note that the quality of academic programs of the university is not necessarily correlated with the quality of the athletic teams. Also, the quality of athletic teams in different sports within a university can vary, for example, a basketball team may be on the level of competition for the national title, while the same universities soccer team may be the worst team in their league. Although it might seem that such level of basketball games at American universities incredibly high, we must note that this is the most popular sport and almost all universities have a basketball team.

4. PROFICIENCY OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Another tricky question is "How well do I need to know English to be able to study in the U.S.?". If you are able to pass the TOEFL and/or SAT tests, there should be no problem with the rapid adoption of English at the academic level. At many universities there are also special programs for teaching English to foreigners who speak only minimal English, so called ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Based on our own experience we can conclude that such programs are generally below the level of average knowledge of foreign students who studied English from primary or secondary school.

These costs may vary from one hundred to five hundred dollars, depending on which test one needs to make, whether you crete the promotional video yourself or use a professional service, etc. Once we together secure a scholarship for you, there will be some costs that are unavoidable and have to be borne by the student.
